| formal week is over :( i have lots of pics from dressing up and
stuff on mypicgallery, but i'll just put up some from the Bacchanalia,
which was my actual house formal.
So, the theme- bacchanalia- comes from the greek god Bacchus or
whatever, so it's supposed to be a night of drunken merriment and
debauchery. Actually, it was a really classy night with chocoalte
covered strawberries, torch lights, a jazz quartet in the main
courtyard, champagne and good wine, popular music in the d-hall and the
harvard swing band in the small courtyard where me and shaan spent most
of our time improvising swing moves... we were pretty damn good. oh
yea, and there were lots of grapes. lots.

Jon, Sasha, me and Shaan before the formal/ My awesome hair that Sasha did for me

Me and Shaan posing on Apley stairs-- what is wrong with this dorm?
it's amazing!!/ Jon and Sasha eating chocolate covered
strawberries mmmmm

Grapes and Strawberries ooooooh heavenly

near the end of the night, we spotted kilt-man falling asleep, so me
and this random guy joined him. yea, i have no idea who this person
next to me is...
So, the Bacchanalia was just amazing. me and shaan definitely worked
the dance floor... or should I say the dacing platform/vending machine
area? sorry. i shouldn't post stupid inside jokes that make no sense
and actually just make me sound rally weird
There is like this rivalry (at least for lowell people) between us and
the eliot fete. I had the privilege of going to both and thought
well.... lowell was pretty damn good, and eliot was pretty damn classy
and beautiful:

yea, the chocolate fountain was pretty amazing. anybody who knows me
knows that i could probably just spend all night by the fountain. i
could take a shower in it. the swing dance floor was always packed but
i must say lowell had a lot more going on in terms of music and food.
Bacchus (aka a tutor dressed in a toga) also made an appearance which
was supposedly quite grand.. though we missed it because we were
fashionably late.
Since we've established that I'm a formal whore, I don't think next
year will be as hectic. I guess it's cuz it's freshman year and i
still know people in other Houses whereas next year I'll probably be
confined to lowell. It was fun though. After the
bacchanalia though I worked on my Vietnam term paper from 3a.m. to 3p.m
pretty much non stop except for a couple 20min naps i fit in. that was
crazy. i then headed out to a glee club semi-formal with Phil at the
Sheraton commander (this was a SEMI so don't yell at me). It was
a lot of fun again- glee club guys are just crazy, wild and fun to
party with. yea, i said wild. haha i must say I found it pretty
entertaining that everyone was tall, white with blond/brown hair and
there were like 3 asians and 1 black person. then there was me, just
some strange mixed person- haha. I must say it's a huge change
from going to a callbacks party where I fit right in with the racial
ambiguity.
anyways, that was a crazy week and now I'm just preparing for finals... going home June 8th!!!!!!!!!!! so excited :)

| So, i have a history paper and a literature paper due this week, so i thought I'd procrastinate a little by updating my xanga...
since the last time i updated, lots of stuff has gone down. the last
week of April was crazy preparation for the Pre-frosh jam when all the
prospective students come for the weekend and we sing for them... The
thursday night before they all came I went to see KJ at the Freshman
musical- ended up knowing a lot of people in the play and two Kanto
Plain-ers (Benny and Elizabeth) were involved with the music, so that
was pretty cool.
After that and some pre-gaming, me, K'idar and KJ decided to hit up the
Red Party at a club in downtown Boston, where one of the all-female
social groups, the Seneca, had rented out the Roxy. This was the
night of my fatal toe injury, and being the dumbass I am, I cracked a
toenail before going (by slamming the door on it), let it bleed a
while, wrapped in up in a make-shift band-aid, put my stilettos back on
and headed out the party. The party was awesome- lots of people
from harvard- like 1500 maybe?- everyone dressed in red, and met up
with lots of the callbacks while i was there. just a lil bit sketchy,
but I'm kinda used to the random strange people at parties now...

Me and K'idar waiting to get in

K'idar and KJ, my fellow callbacks- yaaaay
hmmm i didn't take many pictures that weekend. the next day all
the prefrosh came and we hit up Sasha's figure skating party called
"Freeze" but someone pulled the fire alarm and the whole House was
evacuated... after the fire trucks left we decided to just leave
because the 09ers swarmed back into Eliot and we didn't feel like
getting sucked in with them. Vivek tackled Sasha too. that was a
highlight of the evening. My toenail is still half on half off at this
point
So i think it was saturday when I finally made it to health services
for them to look at my toe, and they even threatened to remove it (the
nail, not the toe) but that didn't end up happening. instead they just
soaked it, wrapped it up in a huge bandaid and let me go. A week
later, some girl stepped on it at Pub Night and i ended up removing it
on my own
ANYWAYS, enough of this toe crap, because I know I've been grossing people out with the story.
So, some weekend in between I made it out to the International party
called "Fiesta" which was good, "skank fest" at currier... don't
ask.... and last weekend was pretty chill because I caught a cold and
didn't want to get worse before our Arts First performance. We
sang "Like a Prayer" by Madonna with full choreo so that was pretty fun.
I feel like my life revolves around weekends here, because during the
week I have the usual routine of going to classes, writing papers,
reading my butt off and going to work. and sleeping minimally.
This week is reading period, so technically we don't have classes even
though I have French. I'm also composing a song with K'idar for
my Protest lit class, which we need to perform Wednesday... AAAAAh.
it's formal week this week too, so all the upperclass houses have
formals, and freshmen are invited to their prospective house
formals. I'm going into Lowell House (which I found out is where
Crown Princess Masako sama lived while she was at harvard) so
I'll be attending the Lowell Bacchanalia, which is supposed to be
awesome... this Thursday. yesterday I went to the mather formal
"shipwreck'd" which was pretty good, but I hear that the bacchanalia is
just HUGE. Also heading out to the Eliot one on wednesday, which
is supposed to be the best formal out of all the 12 houses. yaaaaay
formals!!!
K, well i really am just screwing myself over by writing this. oh yea,
last month i put up a whole collage of pictures on my wall (from here
and from home) YIS-ers are on it!!

makes me happy
Anyways, I'm heading back to Japan on June 8th so I'll be back in time
for Grad! I have finals soon.... ooooh man. i should study.
k then take care everyone and i'll see people in japan in about.. 1 month
buh bye

| so, the nurses at university health services really know me now. After
that awful trip to the infirmary in early February, i went back today
for a cracked toenail that will have to be ripped off by a surgeon.
awesome :)
i want to update, but it's raining today so i feel like that's a good
excuse to stay in and get some work done. It's pre-frosh weekend
and I wish i could go out, but at the moment my toe looks like it's
suffocating in an enormous pillow and so i don't want to put it through
this horrible weather.
lots of updating later. buh bye
